A Kudoboard alternative

A film, not a wall of posts.

Kudoboard and Gatherfox both collect messages from a group for one person. One gives you a page of posts; the other gives you a video. Which of those you want is honestly the whole decision.

Comparison

What both of them do

Both give you one link to send round, both let people contribute in their own time, and both spare you the group thread where everybody promises to send something tonight. Neither asks the contributor to learn anything.

What you get instead of a board

The output is the difference, so it is worth being concrete about what arrives at the end.

  1. 01

    One prompt, one deadline

You write the question everyone answers. They all get the same one, which is why the clips hang together as a film.

  2. 02

    Spoken messages, not posts

Each person records up to a minute in the browser, or uploads a clip. There is no text, image or GIF option — this is video only.

  3. 03

    Assembled automatically

Gatherfox builds the opening, the order, the transitions and the ending, keeping every frame whole so nobody is cropped out.

  4. 04

    A file you keep

A clean 1080p MP4 with a caption file, plus a private viewing page. The download does not expire when the page does.

Comparison

The differences that matter

01

Video only, on purpose

Kudoboard is a board: posts can be text, images and GIFs, and the result stays a page you visit. Gatherfox accepts only recordings and produces only a film. Neither of us does the other’s job.

02

Priced per project, not per board

Kudoboard sells boards by tier, with the tier set by how many posts a board holds, alongside plans for teams. Gatherfox is one flat price per project, with the clip and length limits published up front.

03

Deletion dates, in writing

Gatherfox prints when each kind of file goes — the original upload, the working copy and the final film all have their own date — and contributors are told before they record. That is a description of Gatherfox, not of anyone else.

When Kudoboard is the better buy

If what you actually want is a message board people can post text, photos and GIFs to, that is Kudoboard’s job and not ours. We only make a film, and a film needs people who will talk to a camera. If half your group will not, buy the board — they will get something with everyone in it, and we would hand you a video of the confident half.

How the other company prices this is described as their own pricing page set it out in August 2026. Check their current terms before you decide.

FAQ

Can people write instead of recording?

No. A Gatherfox contribution is a recording or an uploaded clip. If a good part of your group would rather write something, a board suits them better than we do.

What if somebody records something unusable?

Gatherfox flags missing audio, unreadable footage, extreme darkness and caption failures, and you can request a replacement without editing anything. Contributors can also replace their own clip until collection closes.

Do we get a link to share afterwards?

Yes — a private viewing page for 12 months, plus the MP4 download, which is yours to keep after the page expires.

How many people can contribute?

Up to 50 active clips on a standard project and up to 100 on Workplace, at up to 60 seconds each.

If it should be a film, start the link.

Collecting and previewing is free, so you can find out whether your group actually records before you spend anything.

See the full preview before paying. Gatherfox builds the montage and shows you the whole film, watermarked, before any payment. You pay only to remove the watermark and download it.
