A VidDay alternative

One flat price, however many people reply.

VidDay and Gatherfox do the same job: collect short video messages from a group and hand back one finished film. Here is where the two differ in shape — and where VidDay is the better buy.

Comparison

What both of them do

One link out to the group, recording in the browser, and a finished video at the end. If you have used VidDay, none of that will surprise you.

What switching actually involves

There is nothing to export or import. A Gatherfox project is a new link, and setting it up takes about as long as writing the invitation did the first time.

  1. 01

    Open the project

Pick the occasion, name the recipient, write one prompt and set the closing date.

  2. 02

Send the same people a new link

They record or upload in the browser. No account, and nobody sees anyone else’s message.

  3. 03

    Watch the whole thing first

The complete preview is watermarked and free, and one corrective rerender is included before you buy. Reorder, exclude clips or fix captions before you decide anything.

  4. 04

    Pay once, then keep editing

Payment unlocks the project rather than a single export, so you can rerender while the working files are there.

Three differences worth knowing

01

The bill does not move when more people reply

VidDay’s pay-per-video option is priced by how long the finished video runs, so a collection that grows is also a collection that costs more. Gatherfox is one flat price per project whatever the runtime, up to the published limits.

02

No plan to be on

VidDay also sells membership plans for people making several videos a year. Gatherfox has no subscription at all: you pay per project, or you pay nothing and keep the preview.

03

Where the footage sits, in writing

Gatherfox stores media in the EU, records each contributor’s consent against a consent version, shows every contributor only their own recording, and publishes a deletion date for each kind of file. Those are facts about Gatherfox; read anyone else’s policy for yourself.

When VidDay is the better buy

For a short film from a handful of people, paying by runtime is simply cheaper than a flat project price. If three people are contributing and the result runs a couple of minutes, VidDay costs less than we do and you should use it. We are built for the send-off where forty people reply and nobody can say where the clips are living.

FAQ

Can I move a collection that has already started?

No, and neither of us can move it for you. Gatherfox starts a new project with a new link. If people have already recorded elsewhere, they can upload those files to the Gatherfox link instead of recording again — common MP4, MOV, M4V and WebM files up to 60 seconds are accepted.

Do contributors need an account?

Not with Gatherfox. They open the link, add a display name, consent, then record or upload in the browser. There is nothing to install.

What does a Gatherfox project cost?

One price per project, with no contributor fee and no charge to preview. The pricing page states it, and checkout shows it again in your local currency with tax.

How many people can contribute?

Up to 50 active clips on a standard project and up to 100 on Workplace, at up to 60 seconds each.

Start the link and see the film before you decide.

Building a project and watching the complete preview costs nothing, so you can compare the two with your actual messages in them.

See the full preview before paying. Gatherfox builds the montage and shows you the whole film, watermarked, before any payment. You pay only to remove the watermark and download it.
